Latest news on my book! I completed more off the checklist. Dedication Page and Acknowledgement Page are now happily slipped into their Completed File. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about writing them. They are so personal and emotional, and I worried about leaving someone important out (accidentally, of course). However, after reading them over and over, and out loud (of course), I am finally at rest. I love them, and I’m not looking at them again until it goes to print!
Today, my formatting expert and I have been working on trim sizes, fonts (for various things), margins, and so many more things I had never heard of before. It was a wonderful learning experience for me. It’s finally starting to take the shape of a real book, and that brought a lump to my throat.
Staring out my window at the heat coming up from the concrete, and the temps at 107, it feels as if October is years away! But I know it will finally come in only four months, and I am so excited to finally share my story with you.
Speaking of my story, the photo at the top is a little departure from my usual magnolias. I chose Boston this time because the city plays such an important role in my book. One of my main characters, Scott Miller, is an FBI agent who was born and raised in the Boston area—specifically Chelsea, a suburb just across the Mystic River from Boston.
Savannah Williams, my female main character, went to Boston College for her master’s degree. That’s where she met Scott and ended up working. She thought she’d be there forever. But life doesn’t always turn out the way we plan. There’s this thing called “detours” that we bump into on our journey. You’ll have to read the book to find out about this incredible detour that Savannah is on.
Until then…
Pam

Can’t wait to read it Pam – that was a great hook……..
