One of my favorite authors is Francine Rivers.  The Mark of the Lion Trilogy is a series that changed my life.  Ms. Rivers is one of four authors I consider to be my absolute favorite, in every way.  In the prologue of The Voice in the Wind (Book One in the series), she makes a comment that stuck with me.

“God can use anything to reach and teach His children.  Even a work of fiction.”

I am not, nor will I ever be the truly gifted author that Francine Rivers is.  Yet I pray that in my journey of writing stories, I will be able to always write something that inspires the reader to want to do better; be stronger; reach further; dig deeper; hope harder; love longer and see clearer.

Thank you Ms. Rivers for your inspiration and creation of Hadassah.  That young woman challenged me to want to draw closer to the Lord and be more like Jesus every day.  If she could walk the road she had before her, and suffer the things she went through and still have such a positive impact on those around her, I knew in my easy life (in comparison) I could overcome and still be totally and completely in love with the God who created everything.

I still believe to this day, after reading hundreds of books, that the character of Hadassah is one of the finest characters in the genre of Christian/Fiction.  I can only dream of coming up with such an amazing character for one of my books.

Just thinking out loud.

I love to write. This blog is my little corner of the world where I can practice my craft. Whether or not anyone reads them doesn't really matter at this point; I'm practicing. I love God first, and my children, grandchildren, and family second. Planning trips to places I've never been, seeing the ocean, listening to great music, swinging in a hammock, and drinking a fantastic cup of coffee bring me pleasure. An awesome pen and great textured paper can put a smile on my face at the oddest moments. Life is full of detours...but I'm learning that they also have some of the best views. Happy reading!
