Just got home from a great writing morning/afternoon. Hung out at Daily Dose with my laptop, Spotify and a fantastic Coconut Dirty Chai Latte! Wow…I had heard that they were really good, but it’s my first time trying DD out, and I was not disappointed.

I wrote over 1000 words on Olivia and Sam’s story! Guess that chai latte inspired me. Hoping their story should wrap up around December, and maybe, just maybe…it might be in print/published by the end of the year. I love their story and will be sad to see it come to an end, but that’s how novels work. Right?

I’ve had a few challenges with Sam and Olivia. The story-line flashes back and forth within a 5 year period. Basically from the time they first met to current time. That’s been fun, but also I’ve had to really watch out for timing issues.

For example, there is a scene where Olivia’s dad is telling a story about 9/11. During the particular story he is recalling, Olivia starts remembering her point of view at the time. She was only 5 when the towers fell, and so I had to stop and think how an experience like that would effect a 5 year old, who’s father was a New York City Fire fighter and her mom was a surgical nurse at the closest hospital to the towers.

Seeing it through a 5 year old’s eyes is much different than seeing it through a teen or adults eyes. That was challenging. I hope I did that chapter justice. It wasn’t easy to go back and remember, for Olivia or myself.

On another note, I am listening to Christmas music for the first time today. It’s raining and I actually have a sweater on, so I thought it was slightly appropriate. Don’t judge me, please. 🙂

Next week I have my ultra sound for my abdomen due to some tummy aches I had 2 weeks ago. I’m figuring its probably something like acid reflux or maybe my gall bladder. Honestly, I truly believe God has already healed me, but since I promised Him (and my mom) that I would go get it checked out…that’s what I’m doing.

Also the following day, I have my lower back epidural injections. Never a fun experience, but they do help, for a period of time. I will be doing a lot of physical therapy and even some beginners yoga to help with the chronic back pain.

Hopefully, I should be returning to work around the 2nd week of November. That’s the goal. I am so very thankful for the company I work for and their great health benefits. God is my first “go-to” for any pains or woes I have. I also know that He allows doctors and medicine as a help along the journey of our life. I believe that ALL healing comes from God. The doctor can set the broken bone, but he doesn’t mend it back together. God does that. I suppose this is easy for me to believe because I believe that God was the one who created this incredible human body. Since He did, why shouldn’t He be able to fix it when something get broken? I learned the hard way, that He doesn’t fix everyone. If He did that, our world would be over-populated. Sometimes He chooses to heal another way. He takes them to heaven, and they have perfect health in heaven…  Do I understand His ways and His decisions? No. With my very finite small mind, I don’t have an easy answer. Do I trust Him? Absolutely. He see’s the end from the beginning and knows what’s best even when it seems our worst.

So many are hurting right now. My nephew’s step-son was just diagnosed with cancer. He’s 18. Does that seem fair? Not at all. Do I believe that God is able to heal him? You bet I do. He’s getting the best care possible at St Jude’s Children Hospital in Tennessee. They are an amazing organization and I’m so happy he’s their. There is a balance. We, as human beings do all we can to get help, but above all else, we trust that God has it all in control.

My niece has Hodgkins Lymphoma and is in remission. She has struggled and fought it for two years. She has a beautiful little 2 year old daughter named Faith. She wants to live! Trust me…God has done some miraculous things for that young lady, and I believe He will continue to do so until this is completely gone. For me, it’s just easier to believe that than to put all my hope in doctors. Just sayin! I mean, they are good, don’t get me wrong. But they don’t know everything!

On another note…My 10 year old grandson Yuri came over on Sunday (after church) to hang out with me for a few hours. He sat down at my piano and shocked me! Wow! He has come a long way on the piano. He’s really good and just loving his piano classes at school. He also has violin (orchestra) and choir, at school. Every day. Well, that makes sense, since it’s a school for the arts (performing arts). I am so proud of him, and can’t wait to see where this adventure takes him. Now if you ask him what his favorite class is in school right now; guess what he says?  Social Studies. What?? Really?? Actually this isn’t that surprising. He’s always LOVED history and studying the unique differences between people, societies and their environments. Math is another favorite of his, but right now, his Social studies class is doing a project that totally has caught his attention.

Sophia and Hannah are getting ready to launch another year of Girl Scouts! I just bought magazines and candy from their first sale. Next will be “cookie” time. Lord help us! I’m trying hard to lose weight, and this is not going to help. They are working hard on their patches and badges for the next big camping trip they have coming up. They are smart, independent and lovely young girls and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has for their lives in the future.

On Saturday, the Torres family is having a dinner. I will get to see my nieces and cannot wait to hug their necks. Also since I don’t get to see my two other granddaughters very often, since I’ve moved…I found out that my son will be bringing them too. I’m so excited!

Zoe & Jason celebrated 13 years of marriage earlier this month! So happy for them and pray daily that they will enjoy many many more years of marriage and joy together. They are doing an amazing job with their three kids. Being a good parent and keeping your marriage fresh and nurtured is never easy. It takes work. Times may be different from when I was just starting out, but I think the basics are still true. Society has made it a lot more difficult than it was when we didn’t have everything at our fingertips and had to actually wait for things to happen. Instant gratification can create monsters if we’re not careful.

Love and a lot of prayer (daily) is what will help get us all through our daily lives. I believe that with all my heart. Seeing each other through God’s eyes, is the key. It truly helps you see the world (and your neighbor) differently. 🙂

Well, that about wraps it up. Can’t think of anything else right now. I should really post something every day so I don’t talk so much in one post. Sorry…

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to read my crazy, random and sometimes inspiring thoughts.

Happy Tuesday!

I love to write. This blog is my little corner of the world where I can practice my craft. Whether or not anyone reads them doesn't really matter at this point; I'm practicing. I love God first, and my children, grandchildren, and family second. Planning trips to places I've never been, seeing the ocean, listening to great music, swinging in a hammock, and drinking a fantastic cup of coffee bring me pleasure. An awesome pen and great textured paper can put a smile on my face at the oddest moments. Life is full of detours...but I'm learning that they also have some of the best views. Happy reading!
